What’s a ‘social tariff’?
It’s a cheaper rate of energy available to customers who are financially disadvantaged, ALL energy providers offer social tariffs however, they are not widely advertised. They assist vulnerable, low income households pay for their fuel bills more comfortably putting them on the load to an affordably warm home.
How much money will I save?
An average household can save up to £240 per year as the ‘social tariff’ is generally 15% less than a standard energy tariff.
How do I know if I’m eligible for a ‘social tariff’?
You may qualify for a social tariff if you pay more than 10% of your household income towards your energy bills and/or are on benefits.
You are eligible if you live in:
- A household in receipt of Pension Credit
- A household in receipt of Income Support or Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance and where the benefit includes one of the following:
- Disability Premium
- Severe Disability Premium
- Disabled Child Premium
- Higher Pensioner Premium
- A household in receipt of Income Support or Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance and responsible for a child under five years old
- A household in receipt of Child Tax Creditwhich includes a disability or severe disability element
